Since listening to my Nain’s [North Welsh for grandmother] lullabies, singing has always been important to me - eisteddfodau, choirs in school and work. But I stopped singing around twenty years ago because of work pressure. I was delighted to hear that a new choir had started locally and Dyffryn Arth Community Choir is giving me back the pleasure and joy of singing once again. Thank you!

Cefais groeso cynnes o’r funud gyntaf, ac yn syth fe deimlais gwir ystir yr agwedd gymunedol o’r côr, yn ogystal a’r ysbrydoliaeth oddi wrth Wendy a David i’m annog i ailgudio ar ganu.
I had a warm welcome from the first minute, and immediately I felt the true meaning of a community choir, as well as the inspiration from Wendy and David to encourage me to reconnect with singing.

After retiring, I needed something to brighten up my week. After being a member of a large choir and a local trio for many years, I had to give it all up and I hadn’t sung for about ten years. I had seen Dyffryn Arth Community Choir advertised on social media and after speaking to a friend we decided to give it a go. I’ve never looked back. Everyone is so friendly and very welcoming. I can read music and play the piano (badly) but Wendy is helpfully giving us theory lessons. The practices are entertaining with loads of laughter and some pretty amazing singing. Best thing I’ve done since retiring. I just love it ❤️

I joined Dyffryn Arth Community Choir in September and was immediately made to feel welcome by the warm and friendly group. Encouraged by Wendy I have gained confidence in my singing voice and I enjoy the weekly practice.

I have always wanted to sing, We do have some very good voices within the group albeit mine is not one of them. This is an incredibly friendly group with a very understanding MD who does all she can to put you at your ease. The secret is to stand next to someone with a good voice - you will be amazed at how you will improve and go home happy with uplifted spirits. We have such fun - come and join us.

I was attracted to the choir because I love singing but can't read music so Dyffryn Arth Community Choir was perfect for me. The atmosphere is relaxed, welcoming and very friendly and no matter how low you feel when you arrive, you always leave feeling more cheerful! During the pandemic we are “Zooming” to virtual choir every Wednesday evening – it’s surprising how successful it is – there is much hilarity but we are still making progress!

What is really rewarding about being part of the Dyffryn Arth Community Choir is the enthusiasm and camaraderie which has quickly developed. Having only started in September 2019 the choir could have completely folded due to the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions but the members have risen magnificently to the technical challenges of virtual choir practices and in doing so have strengthened the socialising aspects of the choir as well as the musical ones.

The Choir has made such a difference to my social life. Having moved into the Area in the past Year and also having been a long time since I had sung, yet I slotted in and am enjoying the variety and range of music that Wendy prepares for us. New friends all creating a happy time, with future events planned the Choir is going from strength to strength.
